Providing Bat and Squirrel Removal Services — June 30, 2008
June is here and Bat Season has officially begun. We've been getting calls for bats in houses, attics and other strange places every day. During the first week of June when our area got hit with a 90 degree heat wave we were swamped with calls for bats. The biggest problem we have this time of year is that all the calls come at once and it's hard for us to keep up. Such is bat season. I'm glad to see it arrive in the spring and even happier to see it go in the fall. Oddly enough we've been getting some calls for mice also which is odd considering the hot weather. I apologize for the lack of pictures in this update. I lost my favorite digital camera about a month ago and I haven't got around to buying a new one yet. I keep hoping that I'm going to find it somewhere.
Billerica Bat Removal
I recently evicted a medium-sized colony of big brown bats from a home in Billerica Ma. There were a few dozen bats using a small construction gap on one side of the house. You can see the heavy staining on the siding below the entry point. Once inside the attic they were roosting against the chimney.
Lakeville Bat Removal
I completed a bat removal project in Lakeville Mass. This attic was home to a large number of bats — one of the largest colonies I have ever found in this area. I also removed one of the largest bats I have ever seen from one of the gable vents on this house. The bat's wingspan was over 11 inches! I shot two videos at this job that I've linked to below.
Marshfield Bat Removal
We recently performed a bat control project at a house in Marshfield MA that was home to over 100 small brown bats. These bats were all roosting behind a single rake-board. The droppings were falling down onto a lower roof and creating a mess. We removed the bats and bat-proofed the entire house to prevent them from returning in the spring.
Removing Squirrels
I removed this juvenile gray squirrel from a basement in Westwood Ma. I then had a long talk with him about entering people's houses.
Squirrel Service
Check out the look on the squirrel's face in the first picture. He just realized that he is about to be evicted. While working on this house I watched a flying squirrel glide from tree to tree in the backyard and managed to get a lousy picture of it. This was the first time I've ever seen one out in the daylight.
Grafton Squirrel Removal
I grabbed this juvenile squirrel from a fireplace in Grafton Ma. a few weeks back. The homeowner told me that the squirrel had been in the fireplace for 3 days. When I open the glass doors it just sat there and allowed me to pick it up. I released it in the yard and then capped the chimney.
